Acceleration

Is defined as the change in velocity per unit time.

Inertia

Describes the measure of a load's resistance to change in velocity. The larger the inertia, the greater the torque that is necessary to accelerate or decelerate the load.Conditions under which the adjustment components can be used. Therefore loads such as sliding or static friction and fitting positions (horizontally or vertically) must be taken into account.

Resolution

Resolution is defined as the smallest possible motion of translation or rotation. Specifications in this catalogue refer to arithmetical data with corresponding screws, gears, drivers and motors used. The theoretical data ignores environmentaltranslation element moves to the required direction. Owing to additional arrangements such as spring prestressed sliding spindle or prestressed recirculating ball screw etc. reverse backlash can almost be reduced to zero.

Backlash

Reverse backlash is defined as a system`s dead zone that occurs if an adjustment component is moved from one direction to the opposite direction. Due to work tolerances a certain motion on the adjustment element (respectively turning knob) must be carried out until thedifferent friction conditions in drive screws, gears or bearing-guides or arithmetical rounding errors of simple positioning control systems as well as due to backlash of mechanical systems.

Founded in 1990, MICOS specializes in the development, manufacturing and marketing of ultra-high precision positioning components and systems for research and industry. We are experts in vacuum, ultra-high vacuum, clean room, and extreme climate environments down to 77 Kelvin.
